This poem I have chosen to do is called Does It Matter, by Siegfried Sassoon. It talks ab unwrap the dis remark civilians gave to the wounded during the scratch knowledge base War, 1917 the time when this poem was written. On first base glance, the poem seems to be addressed to struggleds an injured soldier querying them some the consequences of losing legs and sight. The poet discusses the lack of respect given to veterinarians, often bearing scars of war, as the main subject, apply humour and sarcasm very effectively in disposition to convey his views. Sarcasm is evident passim the poem, an example be in the first 5 lines, For commonwealth will eternally be kind, And you need not yield that you mind When the others strike in after hunting, To gobble their muffins and eggs. The veteran is left out of the chances to hunt game and is instead heavy(p) the task to blade food for those who hunt. The heap in the concomitant stanza are razz this legless person by disr egardless his disability and keep on with hunting. This type of sarcasm is prove in 3 places in this poem, after each examination where the poet asks Does it matter? and Do they matter? On statement from the last-place stanza, You can subscribe and forget and be glad/ And people wont say that youre mad is some other clear example of the purpose of sarcasm by the poet.

Here, the poet addresses the item that many veterans, literally no longer having purpose, resort to drink. It is to a fault seen by the make use of of the association of the words forget and glad that veterans had to drink in order to carry the scarring memories from their mind - the scenes from war that had made them so depressed. However, these actions on the ! farewell of the war veterans are taken as madness or insanity by the public. The sarcastic flavour used emphasises the detail that civilians could not comprehend, nor took the time to attempt to comprehend, the war veterans experiences. Repetition is ready in this poem by the return of the rhetorical doubtfulness Does It...If you want to get a skilful essay, order it on our website:
